Sarla Aviation Appoints Payal Satish as Vice President - Business Development & Strategy
Sarla Aviation is proud to announce the appointment of Payal Satish as Head of Strategy & Growth, marking a major milestone in the company’s mission to shape the future of urban air mobility in India.
With over 20 years of industry experience, including a decade in aviation, Payal is among the few women to have held senior leadership roles in a traditionally male-dominated industry. She brings to Sarla Aviation an exceptional combination of commercial acumen, strategic vision, and a lifelong passion for flight — making her an invaluable addition to the company’s leadership team.
“Rather than waiting for direction — do it. If you're wrong, course-correct,” says Payal, reflecting the bold, action-oriented mindset that defines her leadership style.
Payal’s journey into aviation began in 2014 at AirAsia, — a non-conventional entry that laid the foundation for a wide-ranging career. From marketing and ancillary revenue to cargo and helitaxi operations, she has navigated diverse verticals with curiosity, adaptability, and a drive to break new ground.
At Sarla, Payal steps into a new realm of aviation — transitioning from the service side of the industry into the world of aerospace manufacturing.
Her appointment comes at a pivotal time as Sarla Aviation advances the development of its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and charts its course to reshape the landscape of urban mobility in the country.
Payal is also a passionate advocate for greater representation of women in aviation and deep tech.
“At senior levels, especially in operations and manufacturing, there are still very few women. But the industry is changing. I hope more women give themselves permission to be part of it — to step in even when something feels unfamiliar.”
Payal’s journey is a testament to the power of saying yes before you feel ready, of choosing growth over comfort, and of redefining what’s possible.
Sarla Aviation is honoured to welcome her aboard.
